Midway through the racing calendar, Vision Director Martin Will has now raced his Elise S1 at Snetterton GP, Silverstone and Brands Hatch Indy as part of his bid for the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy title.
At Brands Hatch, over 30,000 fans watched from the trackside to see Martin successfully take a podium position, beating off stiff competition from fellow drivers.
In the first race of the day Martin qualified sixth but went up to second, then down to twelfth after a spin before pushing back to finish fifth.
Of the second race, Martin says: “I started fourth on the grid but as I was leaving the paddock I noticed a noise; the clutch was slipping. Despite this I managed to get into first place after a fierce battle and maintained the lead for 11 laps. The clutch then inevitably started to give up; I was missing gears and in the end I had to complete the last 1.5 laps in third gear. By the point the race ended the clutch gave up and I rolled the car down the pit-lane to the podium for second place.”
