Martin unveils new-look Lotus at Brands Hatch

Martin Wills, Managing Director of Vision, unveiled his new-look Series 1 Lotus at the ‘eventful’ sixth race meet of the Lotus on Track season, held at Brands Hatch last weekend.

The car has been transformed by vehicle repairer TCW Group from black and orange to a bright white, and now features a host of new partner logos. It certainly stood out on the circuit.

Despite an excellent start to the first race of the day, where Martin moved up the field from twelfth to fourth place in just five laps, a problem with the clutch meant he lost the use of his gears. This sadly saw him head into the pits and retire completely from the race.

After some work on the car, he was back in business for an action-packed second race, which saw him climb from twelfth place to sixth, before being shunted off the track at Druid’s Hairpin by a competitor. He eventually rejoined the race in 17th place, moving up seven places before the chequered flag was waved.

Talking of the races, Martin said: “It was a frustrating weekend as far as points are concerned but I had loads of fun as I always do. I’m in one piece and my car’s in one piece, although it has a few battle scars, but that’s motor racing!”

Martin has two meets of the season to go at Donington GP on 28 September and Snetterton 300 on 26 October.
